Spring 2021 Immigration Guidance
Updated 12/23/2020
The Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) has stated in the December 2020 SEVP Spotlight that "the COVID-19 guidance from March 2020 is still currently in place until further notice."
The University of Arizona has announced the following plans for Spring 2021:
Course Formats
For the Spring 2021 semester, the University of Arizona will continue to offer four course formats, in-person, flex in-person, live online and iCourse. For courses with in-person components, the university anticipates starting the semester in Stage 2.
Stage 2 includes In-Person and Flex In-Person classes with projected classroom capacities of no more than 50 people. The attendance schedule will be designed so that no more than 50 people (including instructors and course assistants) will be present in person at each meeting time.
Campus Testing
All students coming on campus for in-person classes will be tested for coronavirus. There will be a process for requesting exemptions, such as religious and disability-related reasons. Per CDC guidance, students who have received a positive antigen, PCR, or antibody test within 90 days of the start of the spring semester will not be required to retest but must provide documentation.
Spring Break
Spring Break 2021 has been replaced by a number of Reading Days:
• Thursday, February 25, 2021
• Tuesday, March 9, 2021
• Wednesday, March 10, 2021
• Friday, April 2, 2021
• Wednesday, April 21, 2021
Visas & Entry to the US
While we will wait for updated guidance from SEVP for Spring 2021, we are still recommending that you print your class schedule to demonstrate that you do not intend to enroll in 100 percent online coursework.
You should print the following items to carry with your passport when you enter the U.S.:
- Form I-20 (don't forget to sign!)
- Spring Hybrid Model Letter
- UAccess class schedule showing full-time enrollment, including at least one in-person or flex in-person class
