Bioscience and Biotechnology for Life Science

Course Description

Biomedical scientists often encounter experimental limitation on demonstrating what happens in our body or technological limitation on development of a cure for incurable diseases. In order to overcome such limitation, one of the greatest technologies recently developed is the genome editing system, including TALEN, ZFN, and CRISPR/Cas9. The genome editing technology may induce tremendous effects on biosciences and in our lives in the future. To understand lots of advances in this field, this course first explains basic knowledge on cell biology and biochemistry and presents an overview of major techniques applied in the CRISPR/Cas9 system and show important bio-applications for medicine.
