On Monday, August 29, 2022, the Arizona International Education team hosted a Wildcat Welcome Party to introduce two groups of international students to our main campus in Tucson, Arizona.

One of these groups included students from Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicada (UPC), our microcampus partner in Peru, and Hanoi Law University (HLU), our microcampus partner in Vietnam. These students will be completing a semester on the main campus through Study Arizona, a program that is open to all microcampus students to study abroad in Tucson for a semester.

The second group included students from the Global Direct program who started their degree online and now have transitioned to the main campus. Many of these students expressed how happy they were to be attending in-person classes, after being online from their home countries!

In his welcome address, Justin Dutram, assistant vice president, Mexico and Latin America said, “We are so honored and pleased to have you here at the University of Arizona! Take full advantage of the opportunities during your time here, make friends, and enjoy the academic life.”

The students enjoyed Mexican food catered by Gentle Ben's Brewing, which included mini chimichangas, quesadillas, and guacamole, along with cookies and brownies.

Winners of the raffle drawing were announced at the end of the event, and those students received UA totes, a gym bag, sunglasses, water bottles, and lanyards!

Wilbur Wildcat stopped by to surprise the students and to add more fun to the party!

The Arizona International Education team extends a warm welcome to all of the international students who have been able to join us, either in-person or online, this fall semester. We are so glad to have you in our #GlobalWildcats family!
