In this installment of Wildcat Voices, we talk with Sam, an international student from Mexico who has not only found a community at the University of Arizona, but has also begun building a professional foundation for her future. As a biomedical engineering major, Samantha is grateful for the opportunities afforded to her by UArizona.

“My time here at the University of Arizona has definitely been critical in preparing me for my future career. Having the opportunity to do so much research work here has helped me to discover the type of research I want to do, the type of programs and products I want to develop in the future,” said Sam. “Having the opportunity to discover all that about myself within my four years of undergrad is just something I really appreciate. Without it, I would not be where I am today.”

Fueled with a passion for helping others, Sam found a major that fits her interests and goals in the biomedical engineering field. “I get to experience the hard sciences like math, physics, and chemistry, but I also get to experience soft sciences and be able to develop all these tools and equipment that is going to be able to help people. It is very fulfilling and very interesting for me,” she said.
