Tucson, AZ — In December 2021, University of Arizona Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Liesl Folks announced that Brent White, Vice President of Global Affairs, Dean of Global Locations, and Professor of Law, has accepted the role of provost at Golden Gate University.

With White’s departure from the University of Arizona in January 2022, Provost Folks has appointed Daniel Palm, Associate Vice President for Global Affairs, and JP Jones, newly named Dean of Global Education, to lead Arizona Global together in their respective roles.

“Under White’s leadership, the University launched 13 Microcampuses worldwide, expanded study abroad programs, and provided support for international students and faculty in a growing global network,” Folks said. “Global student enrollment reached a record high in 2021, with more than 5,400 students enrolled in degree programs at the main campus and around the globe. Palm and Jones will carry forward this momentum.”

To continue this expansion and support the university’s increasing worldwide presence, a new framework is now in place to support future growth and expansion.

Palm and Jones will together provide leadership and oversee the continued development of the university’s international student recruitment, the worldwide Microcampus Network, and will promote the growth of study abroad programming and international student services in support of the campus community.

As Associate Vice President for Global Affairs, Palm will provide leadership in the development and operations of global initiatives and large-scale global programming. Palm will oversee International Admissions, International Student Services, Passports and Global Travel, Study Abroad, and development and operations of large-scale international programming.

Palm brings fifteen years of international higher education experience to his role. He joined the University of Arizona from Northern Arizona University (NAU), where from 2016 to 2021 he was Associate Vice President for Global Initiatives and the university’s senior international officer.

“The University of Arizona is an outstanding institution with a long history of international engagement,” said Palm. “I look forward to working together with the campus community and with our partners worldwide as we continue to build relationships, create innovative programs and find new opportunities that both broaden and deepen our presence in international higher education.”

In his role as Dean of Global Education, Jones will oversee Global Health programs and initiatives, and Global Education programs in Mexico and Latin America, China, South & Southeast Asia, and Middle East and North Africa.

Jones has served as the Don Bennett Moon Dean of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences since 2010; he will leave the position at the end of this fiscal year. As SBS dean, he has overseen the college’s expansion in both online education and the Arizona Global Microcampus network.

“Through SBS I’ve had the opportunity to see firsthand the educational impact that our microcampuses have had on students, and I look forward to working collaboratively with both deans and our international partners to broaden and deepen our institution’s role in global education.”

The mission of University of Arizona Global is to set the standard for an international university in the digital age.
