QUESTION: Can students use their UA institutional aid for study abroad?
ANSWER: Yes! Students can now use all UA institutional financial aid (except QTR) in addition to federal aid for participation in a UA study abroad program. Financial aid will flow for study abroad just as it does on campus.
QUESTION: Do students have to pay tuition when they study abroad?
ANSWER: Yes. Students going abroad will be charged their regular UA tuition and fees. Program related expenses such as housing, excursions and insurance will be billed separately.
QUESTION: Is there a new process for managing transfer credit for study abroad?
ANSWER: Yes. UA Study Abroad has partnered with the Transfer Credit & Articulation Office to establish course equivalencies for coursework offered through Arizona Abroad Locations and Exchange Programs. QUESTION: What programs does UA Study Abroad manage?
ANSWER: UA Study Abroad continues to manage a portfolio of customized faculty-led and exchange programs and is developing a new set of Arizona Abroad Locations. Departments that choose to run their own programs can do that with guidance and resources provided by UA Study Abroad and UA Global Travel.
QUESTION: What is an Arizona Abroad Location?
ANSWER: Arizona Abroad Locations are new high-capacity, multi-disciplinary study abroad programs that are designed to be financially and academically accessible to all students. Each location is a little different in terms of curricular offerings and credit earned. Students may earn transfer credit or direct UA credit depending on location.
QUESTION: Can students still participate in third-party provider programs like CEA or Semester at Sea?
ANSWER: Yes, but these programs are no longer promoted or supported centrally by UA Study Abroad. Please note: UA institutional financial aid will not be applicable to these programs.
