This program offers an academic course at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. Course topics include security, resource wars, counterinsurgency, and conflict resolution. Students learn through guest lectures, speakers, and excursions to explore the current peace process. Students engage the government officials, academics, international organizations and social leaders who are the designers and implementers of the 2016 peace accord. The academic experience is complimented by an internship in the security or non-profit sector. Students work with a local team to find an internship opportunity that compliments their specific goals and skill-set.
Students will earn 6 UA credits and be enrolled in 2 of the following courses:
- LAS/POL 395: Conflict & the Peace Process in Colombia (3 units)
- LAS/POL/PA/ANTH 493*: Internship (3 units) Internships are tailored opportunities with a flexible schedule. Internship areas include: security sector, NGO, IGO & nonprofit.
