Location

Founded in 1413, St. Andrews is Scotland's oldest university, and the third oldest in the United Kingdom. It is located in the beautiful city of St. Andrews which is situated in its own sheltered bay on the Fife coast, 45 miles north of Edinburgh. The antiquity of the city is reflected in its wonderful old buildings, a medieval street plan, city walls and shops; all of which offer a very rich experience to students. Unlike many universities, St. Andrews is part of the town itself and not isolated on a campus. This arrangement has produced a bond between the students and the people of St. Andrews in a rather small town where everything is within easy walking or cycling distance. St. Andrews is also the home of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club, whose St. Andrews Old Course is arguably the most famous in the world. The cosmopolitan nature of the student community produces a special atmosphere in what is essentially a university town.

Housing

The range of University accommodations are a careful blend of large and small, traditional and modern buildings. As well as halls of residence where catering is provided, students also have the choice of student houses where they can cook for themselves. St. Andrews University guarantees housing (which may be on or off-campus) to all Arizona students who enroll for either a semester or a full year. Please note that Arizona students are required to stay in University housing. While attending St. Andrews, students will have access to the advising, library, computing, sport and social facilities of the University on the same basis as regularly enrolled St. Andrews students.
