Location

UCL is conveniently located in the heart of London. Home to top theatres and cinemas, music venues of every description, national museums and art galleries, every possible kind of pubs, bars, restaurants, as well as world famous shopping, London has something for everyone!

London's facilities for study and leisure cannot be matched by any other city in Britain. The British Library and the British Museum are close to UCL. The great museums and art galleries (the Science Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the National Gallery and the new and spectacular Tate Modern) are within 20 minutes by Underground.

UCL students have the best of both worlds; all the fun and fulfillment of a bustling, busy city existence, with the availability of the tranquil and beautiful parks close at hand. Despite the size of its student body, UCL occupies a relatively compact area within the university quarter of London in a peaceful setting of academic and professional institutions.

Housing

UCL owns a number of student houses and Halls of Residence which together with Intercollegiate Halls (owned by the University of London) provide places for 4,100 students. The majority of this accommodation is within a few minutes walk of UCL with the furthest being about two miles away. The accommodation takes the form of single or (a few) shared study-bedrooms. UCL Halls differ from UCL Houses in that some meals are provided in the former but not the latter. All UCL Halls and Houses cater for both men and women.

UCL guarantees housing to all full-year study abroad students who, prior to May 31, apply for accommodation and who have firmly accepted their offer of admission to UCL by that date. Students who come for less than a full year will normally be allocated housing, but please note that this cannot be guaranteed.

University of London Housing Services maintains a register of private lodgings, furnished rooms and apartments suitable for student accommodation. It also provides an advice service and assistance to students who are seeking private accommodation.
