Montpellier 3 is an excellent option for students wishing to improve their French through coursework in the humanities and social sciences, taken alongside French and other international students. Students should have completed at least 4 semesters of college level French or equivalent. The program offers a three-week pre-session in the fall with the option of earning 3 credits. Housing is arranged by the program in local families or in university residences.
Students participate in a mandatory orientation session called the Pre-Stage that runs through the entire month of September. During orientation, students are required to live in the dormitories. Orientation helps students get settled in a dorm, become accustomed to the campus and the town surroundings, and participate in an intensive French language course. At the end of the orientation session, students are enrolled in their semester courses. Courses are available in the Humanities and Social Sciences. Students will not choose their courses until they arrive in Montpellier and meet with an academic advisor. (Each student's proficiency in French will be evaluated and will determine their level of course enrollment).
