The PAX (Program for Academic Exchange) is a program for international students who would like to experience the unique culture and lifestyle of Taiwan. Through this program, you will take Chinese Language Courses, and elective courses offered by the Colleges of Liberal Arts, Agriculture and Natural Resources, Engineering, Veterinary Medicine, and Social Sciences and Management, with all classes taught in English. You will be taking classes with exchange students from all over the world, including other American universities. Each student will be assigned a professor for consultation during his / her stay in Taiwan. Exchange students may receive free dormitory housing and partial living expenses ($100-200 per month).
Exchange students must be nominated by April 10th for all following Fall, Spring, and Academic Year terms!
Taichung City is the third largest metropolitan area in Taiwan and is known as the "City of Culture." Taichung is located in the middle of the western coast of Taiwan and has mild and pleasant weather; with lower humidity and fewer rainy days than other regions of Taiwan. Taichung is bustling with life including shopping districts, social events, and cultural activities. Taichung's central location will allow you to easily go out and explore the rest of Taiwan.
NCHU has nine on-campus dormitories, five of which are for male students and 4 of which are for female students. Every dormitory has common bathrooms, laundry rooms and recreation rooms. In addition to on-campus dormitories, there are many apartments and rental houses near NCHU. Rent for off-campus accommodation ranges from $90 to $350 per month. NCHU will help you find affordable accommodations in Taichung.
On-campus cafeterias offer good food at reasonable prices. Meals range from $1 to $6 per meal. There are also many restaurants, bakeries, cafes, and convenience stores around the university. Restaurants near campus serve a variety of ethnic foods, including Indian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Mexican, Thai, etc.
