Spain’s second-largest city offers an ideal blend of the historic and modern, including the chance to interact within an innovative technology start-up community. The Barcelona program allows you to make steady progress toward your academic degree while developing practical skills in various fields of business including: business management, information technology, marketing, public relations, and more. The program incorporates a professional internship placement into your summer study program. Our strong academic focus and personalized placements will allow you to make a real impact at a local company and help you take care of additional UA degree requirements. Give your career a boost by gaining the international experience you’ve been seeking.
This program is organized by Eller College of Management but is open to all UA students. CEA’s summer internship program includes an academic seminar and an internship placement. The internship seminar meets for 22 contact hours and you'll spend 120 hours at your internship placement over 8 weeks. Together, your seminar and internship placement are worth 3 credits. Your internship placement hours may vary depending on industry standards for your career field and will be determined after you arrive.
Students have the option to select an additional 3-unit course from the CEA elective course offerings for an additional fee (bringing your credit total to 6 units). Some of the elective courses offered may satisfy a UA General Education requirement or an Eller upper-division elective including: Marketing Major Elective, Tier 2 Arts, and Global Business Program minor elective courses.
Eller students will receive three direct credits for BNAD 393A (Internship Seminar course). If you are interested in completing an additional 3-unit course, please schedule an appointment with an Eller Global Program Advisor to review the CEA elective course offerings and complete a Study Abroad Transfer Credit Pre-Approval form.
Students who are not in Eller will have to work out credit with their home department for the internship seminar course. If you do not get approval from your home department for the internship, then you will receive BNAD credit for the internship and this cannot be changed after you return, so please plan accordingly.
Located on the Plaza Catalunya in the heart of the city, the CEA Barcelona Center offers courses in a range of subjects, taught in English and Spanish. Learning takes place both in and out of the classroom, with instructors taking full advantage of Barcelona’s many notable sites and attractions.
CEA Barcelona students enjoy city-living apartments as their standard housing option. A perfect fit for the do-it-yourself types who want to experience Barcelona as a local apartment-dweller, CEA's apartments scatter neighborhoods like Le Corts, Eixample, Sagrada Familia, Gracia and Poble Nou. Stroll past some of this city's most beautiful treasures daily, as you walk to and from your Spanish abode.
