Program Overview

Home to beautiful castles, magnificent museums, and a lively local student population, Valladolid is the perfect place to immerse yourself in everything Spain has to offer! This program is designed to connect your environment to your ability to speak and understand the Spanish language - Get ready for language and cultural immersion in Valladolid, Spain! (Previously titled Arizona in Segovia)

The program's tentative dates may help you organize your upcoming summer plans.  However, please do not buy your airline tickets until you have received instructions from UA Study Abroad.

Students can enroll in 6 credits during the six-week session for the following courses:
*Completion of SPAN 251 is required for this program

Spanish 325: Intermediate Grammar and Writing
Spanish 330: Intermediate Conversation
Spanish 340: Phonetics
Spanish 350: Introduction to Literary Genres
Spanish 400: Survey of Spanish Literature
Spanish 425: Advanced Grammar and Composition
Spanish 430: Spanish Civilization
Spanish 435: Cervantes
Spanish 450: Conversation and Writing Skills

Instruction will be provided by a UA professor, UA graduate teaching staff and instructors from the Universidad de Valladolid.


Valladolid, the capital of Castile and Leon, has a population of over 300,000 people and provides a perfect environment for exploring what Spain has to offer. 


As a part of the program, students will live with a local host family (homestay). Families will prepare many of the meals, offering an opportunity to experience traditional food, and assist in the practice and development of Spanish language skills. Expect to learn what a typical day in Spain is like for the locals!
