Accelerate your Public Health degree by completing a full semester of coursework during this 9-week summer program in Cusco, Peru. Learn about Peruvian healthcare while serving the local community on topics related to nutrition, respiratory health, clean water, and sustainability.
Tentative 2017 dates: June 4 - June 6 (Lima); June 7 - August 4 (Cusco)
Students will take a full 12 units during this 9 week program focused on public health and service learning. Days will include a combination of classroom time and field work. Two semesters of Spanish language is highly encouraged to participate. The courses include:

Previously the capital of the Inca empire and known for the beautiful archeological ruins surrounding it, Cusco is situated centrally in the Southern part of Peru. This city provides access to some of the most impressive sites in the world, including Machu Picchu. Students will take classes at the Casa de Frey Bartolome while in Cusco.
Upon arrival in Peru, the program will spend two days in Lima, the capital city, before moving onto Cusco for the duration of the program. Excursions included in the program include an overnight trip to Machu Picchu, visits to other nearby ruins, salsa lessons and more.
Note: Students will book their own round trip flight in and out of Lima, Peru. The round trip flight from Lima to Cusco is included in the program budget.
Students will be housed with local host families in order to integrate with the local culture and expand on their Spanish language skills. All meals will be provided by the family and students should expect a 10-15 minute walk to school each day.
