Meet Angela Marie from UA Passports
Meet Angela Marie!
Angela Marie is excited to bring her personal skills and organizational expertise to the Office of Global Initiatives. As a certified Passport Acceptance Agent for UA Passports, she processes U.S. Passport applications and International Student Identification Cards (ISIC), and also takes photos for use with passport, visa, and Optional Practical Training (OPT) applications. Her favorite part of the job is clients because they often are excited to take an international trip. Prior to joining the Global Initiatives team, Angela worked for a non-profit and an attorney’s office, for which she credits her keen attention to detail. Originally from Michigan, Angela moved to Arizona with her children in the nineties, when she camped monthly across the state and quickly learned to appreciate the beauty of Arizona.
Where is your favorite place to travel? My very favorite place to travel is Mackinac Island, Michigan. There are no cars allowed on the island so you explore by walking, biking, or horse riding. There is a real air of history there. I also have a second favorite place to travel and that is Ohio to see my granddaughter.
Where would you love to visit? Ireland. The photos I see from Ireland are beautiful.
Who is your favorite celebrity? I am a huge James Taylor fan. I like that he writes his own lyrics and I can understand every word he sings.
What is a fun fact someone might not know about you? I enjoy gardening and used to work as a floral manager.
What is your favorite type of food? I enjoy steak and I like cooking at home.
What is your favorite thing to do in Tucson? I enjoy the drive through Gates Pass to spend time at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. The plants and flowers are beautiful and I enjoy watching the animals, especially the bear.
Where is your favorite place on campus? UA Passports, of course!
What is your favorite thing about working with OGI? I am learning all kinds of things.
How can you help OGI colleagues? If anyone needs a passport or a passport photo we can help them at the passport office.
What is your typical day like? If you have been by the passport office, you know our days are typically very busy with clients and paperwork. Some days, clients overflow from the waiting room out onto the porch and yard. There are times of the year that are much quieter, like November and December. If you need to apply for your passport, come on over now. Our busy season starts again in January.
