This College of Humanities program gives you the opportunity to study in locations hosting some of the world’s biggest soccer tournaments each summer with the guidance and support of the University of Arizona. During this five week program (four weeks in the host country), you will get six Gen Ed credits studying the history and significance of soccer around the world, intercultural competence, and the complex and fascinating culture of the host country. This program will change locations each year based on which country is hosting a major professional soccer tournament that summer. For summer 2019, the program is in Paris, France, and overlaps with the Women's World Cup.

Summer 2019 - Women's World Cup - Paris, France

Students will have the option to choose two of the following courses (all taught in English):
- HUMS/AFAS 376 Global Soccer (3 credits) - Tier 2 Individuals and Societies
- PAH 372 Intercultural Competence: Culture, Identity, Adaptation, and Intercultural Relations (3 credits) - Tier 2 Individuals and Societies

Dr. Zenenga holds an Interdisciplinary PhD in Theater and Drama from Northwestern University. He is a theater historian and dramatic literature specialist with a strong interdisciplinary training and background. His research and teaching focus on interdisciplinary approaches to understanding issues of identity, race, aesthetics, politics, social change and social justice in the literature, music, visual arts and performance arts of Africa and African Diaspora communities. He is also interested in Digital Africana Studies and the various Elements of Global Hip-Hop.

Specific dates to be determined, will significantly overlap the dates of the Men's European Soccer Championship
Students will have the option to choose two of the following courses (all taught in English) - tentative.

Summer 2019 - Paris, France - Women's World Cup
What better place to take in the Women's World Cup than France -- the reigning Men's World Cup champions? The love of the beautiful game is alive and well in Paris, where students will immerse themselves in French culture and dive into France's deep connections to soccer.
While tickets to the games are not included as part of the program budget, students are welcome to purchase tickets independently.
