TUCSON, Ariz. – After Sage Watson had a record-breaking performance in the 500-meter run last weekend in New York, N.Y, she was named the USTFCCCA Division One Athlete of the Week.

Watson broke the NCAA record in the 500-meter with a time of 1:08.40, a mark that also broke the Canadian national record and American collegiate record. Some of the other incredible feats of her performance include:

·       Armory Track facility record
·       Sixth-fastest time in world history
·       Fastest current time in the world

"Last week coach (Fred) Harvey said I had a shot at breaking the NCAA record," Watson said last week after her performance. "I believed in him and I believed in myself. I never thought I would break the NCAA record but also the facility and American record. I am truly grateful for my team, family, friends and coach Harvey for believing in me and pushing me to be the best I can be."

Watson will be in action next weekend at the Don Kirby Invite in Albuquerque, N.M. and will compete in the 400-meter and 4x400-meter races. Watson was also a part of the 4x400-meter team that broke the Arizona school record last year at the MPSF Championships.
