Supporting International Students
We have created an International Student Resource Manual to connect students with resources in Tucson and at the UA. You may also refer international students needing academic support to the Academic Resources and Tips section within the manual. In certain cases, immigration regulations allow students to request an exemption to full-time enrollment due to academic difficulty. Please consult with an international student advisor for more information.
To promote student success, we require all international students on academic probation to meet with an international student advisor for a 30-minute appointment at the beginning each semester of probation. The purpose of the appointment is to help students to better understand the immigration consequences of disqualification, and to connect them with appropriate support services and resources on campus.
We encourage international students to be engaged outside of the classroom by joining clubs and participating in our many year-round programs and events. ISS can also connect students to various international student clubs on campus. For a more personal experience, we offer two matching programs to learn about American culture. The Global Ambassador and Buddy Program connect students to other UA American students; International Friends pairs students with an American family or host.
During the tax filing season, international students can request access to GLACIER Tax Prep to prepare their tax returns. ISS hosts informational sessions to provide an overview of the tax filing process. Keep in mind that as University of Arizona employees, ISS staff are not permitted to provide personal assistance with the completion of tax forms. More information can be found under Taxes.
