Our global partners range from higher education institutions to foreign governments and funding agencies. Centro de Estudios Mexicano Tucson UNAMCentro de Estudios Mexicano-Tucson (of UNAM)

The main objectives of the Centro de Estudios Mexicano-Tucson of UNAM are to strengthen academic collaboration with the University of Arizona (UA) as well as with other institutions of higher education in the region, and to deepen and expand the development of joint research projects on social and natural sciences, engineering, and humanities, among other fields.  The Center also aims to develop student mobility programs, conduct, in partnership with the UA, activities related to teaching Spanish and Spanish certification, disseminate Mexican cultural activities, and participate in the UNAM initiative to assist migrants. International Arid Lands Consortium (IALC)

The International Arid Lands Consortium is a consortium currently made up of multiple universities, institutes and research/management organizations. IALC has worked successfully for more than 20 years on international research, demonstration, and development projects as well as faculty and student educational programs, exchanges, workshops, conferences, and distance learning opportunities. Interests are focused on the people living in semi-arid and arid regions of Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and South Asia. The UA is hosting Town Halls to breathe new life into this mission. 100,000 Strong in the Americas

President Barack Obama launched “100,000 Strong in the Americas” to increase international study in Latin America and the Caribbean. The purpose of the program is to foster region-wide prosperity through greater international exchange of students, who are our future leaders and innovators. The University of Arizona was selected as one of only 21 higher ed institutions and continues to host leaders and agencies. Visit the official website.


International Education Week (IEW)

This week-long set of activities, panels, talks and presentations is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide.Every year, UA Global Initiatives works with the entire campus to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global future during IEW. Fulbright Scholar Program

The Fulbright Scholar Program offers teaching, research or combination teaching/research awards in over 125 countries. The Fulbright Program awards approximately 8,000 grants annually. The UA office of Global Initiatives assists faculty, scholars and administrators who intend to apply for a scholarship award.Visit the UA Fulbright website.


Scholar Rescue Fund

The Scholar Rescue Fund provides fellowships for established scholars whose lives and work are threatened in their home countries. International Faculty & Scholars is the primary administrative unit on campus providing services to visiting international professors and research scholars participating in the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program. IFS works closely with UA departments to assist with the administrative processes involved in bringing international scholars and researchers to campus. Read more.


Confucius Institute at the University of Arizona (CIUA)

The Confucius Institute's future is based on a foundation of three strong, closely-connected, and synergistic realms:1 ) Language instruction and teacher training; 2) Health promotion and wellness of the mind and body with a focus on traditional Chinese medicine and martial arts; 3) Chinese music and performance arts appreciation and teaching. The Consortium for North American Higher Education, (CONAHEC)

CONAHEC’s mission is to foster academic collaboration among institutions, organizations and agencies of higher education in Canada, Mexico and the United States. CONAHEC advises and connects institutions interested in establishing or strengthening academic collaborative programs with the North American region and beyond.
