Dr. Francisco Trigo, Secretary of Institutional Development of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) will be on hand to celebrate the grand opening of the Center for Mexican Studies here on the UA campus.

The main objectives of the CEM-T of UNAM are to strengthen the academic collaboration with the University of Arizona (UA) as well as with other institutions of higher education in the region, and to deepen and expand the development of joint research projects on social and natural sciences, engineering, and humanities, among other fields. It also aims to develop students’ mobility programs or academic exchange. It intends to conduct jointly with the UA, activities related to teaching Spanish and Spanish certification. It will also perform dissemination activities of the Mexican culture and it will participate in the UNAM initiative to assist migrants.
